The strength of this book, for me, is Boyden's detailed description of the daily life of the Hurons and the brutal wars with the Iroquois. He has certainly done his research. Whether or not the original documents that he studied were in themselves biased is another question.
The orenda, or life force of humans and"animals, trees, bodies of water, even rocks strewn on the ground" is the underlying theme in the book.
