so far this reminds me of the more mythologically oriented parts of Baudelaire's "Flowers of Evil" but nowhere as horny

The version I own includes other sonnets written by Nerval, including an eulogy for Napoleon Bonaparte that is fairly scathing about what his career says about the French national character as well as an ode to different butterfly species and to the month of April. I am impressed by how many different types of poetry Nerval mastered, which the short biography at the end my edition happens to explain.
