It is interesting to learn that some of our words in English like bongos, safari and zombie come from the African Bantu language. I like to see how our culture interacts with different cultures over time and space.

The first chapter provides a great overview of the dawn of civilization. I wish I would have been able to refer to it when I was teaching ninth grade world history at Madrid-Waddington Central School, as it is a concise, easy to follow summary of the first half of that course.
