The Horror of the Heights by Arthur Conan Doyle

First published in 1913, only 10 years after the Wright brothers' first airplane took flight, this is the story of a man going to explore heights which no man has ever reached and wondering what he might find there.

Not bad. Dated, of course, and pretty light on the horror aspect. But it has a certain charm.

Cargo by E. Michael Lewis

The cargo in this story are the dead bodies of the people killed in the Jonestown Massacre. The narrator, a loadmaster, is escorting the coffins back from Guyana aboard a Lockheed C-141 Starlifter.

The horror lies in the premise here. I felt like the plot wasn't really going anywhere.
