The theme is very dark and gloomy. Everything feels hopeless in the book.

The man in the story is very brave. He is also a great leader by the way he provides leadership to the boy. The boy is very timid and often doubts things, and needs to make sure of things.

Suspense is when a story causes anxiety during a certain part of the story. During one part of my book the Man and his son are in a house when the people who live in the house come home and the man and his son hide upstairs.

Foreshadowing is when a future event is hinted. An example in my book is when a man takes the boy hostage with a knife. You can predict that the boys dad will either shoot the man with the knife, of the man with the knife will hurt the boy.

The book is in third person. "He scrambled up the bank and into the woods, holding his hands out in front of him."

The protagonists are the man and the boy. They do not have names so far in the book. They are developed through flashbacks and the journey they are taking to get to the ocean.

I chose this book because I liked the movie a lot.
