John Lathrop was a revered and vicar, who was convinced in 1623 that the keys to administer the church of Jesus Christ were not found on the Earth. He was waiting for God to send the keys to the Earth through apostolic authority. Not until 1930 was it discovered that he was a common ancestor of Joseph Smith, Oliver Cowdery, Orson and Parley Pratt, W. Woodruff and up to 1/4 of the early converts to the Mormon church.
