They’re now in the sports room, after being frightened of the sight of the execution room. The sport room looks very more pleasing than the last room, having many vampires participating mainly in one on one, hand to hand combat. Darren goes up to fight one of the only women there, he tries to be evasive and strike when he has to, but eventually is cornered and dropped by the female vampire named Arra.

Shan meets a vampire named Kurda, he has been elected to be one of the princes in the vampire mountain, the highest rank among vampires. Kurda gives a tour of the entire mountain to Shan, to rooms like the cremation room, execution room, sport room, but in the execution room, Shan is shown the legend of the stakes. A floor of spikes used to execute those vampires that chose to die in that manner, and insane vampires.

Seba explains the differences in vampires age to humans. Vampires age in two seperate manners, physically and mentally. Physically, Seba is in his 80’s, but mentally, he is 700 years old, or hes been alive for about 700 years. He is the oldest vampire in the cave. Now to Harkat, he finally gives his message to the vampire prince, the night of the Vampaneze is at hand. The vampaneze are the main rival to vampires.

The group explores the cave of vampires, Crepsley runs into a VERY old friend, who had a very strong connection and had a very high ranking upon the vampires. The vampires name, Seba, he goes and picks up Shan’s spider, that turned Shan into vampire in the first plac, Seba was able to communicate well with the spider, Shan notices it. Seba says that the spider is a very rare specied, and should be taken care of.

The group finally makes it to the mountain, but now they have to scale and enter the mountain, which wasn’t easy. They had to enter multiple caves and tunnels to arrive to the main gate. Once they made it to the main gate, a guard, dressed in green, came to identify the group and see if they could enter, only the little person was supscted, since he wasnt vampire at all, but was let in since he had a message.

Shan gets into a savage fight with a grizzly bear, him attempting to save the bear cub. The wolf pack he met came to try and help him, but could not do anything, then the little people came to assist. One was crushed into pieces, the other saved Shan by stabbing the bear in the neck with a bone, killing it. Shan thanks the man and asks if he wants to bury his partner, the man says no. The bear was a vampaneze.

Shan and his group are going through still, being followed by the little people. Shan goes to the river alone to fill up their canteens, there, he was confronted he assumed by wolves, but instead of trying to kill him they are very friendly to him. Crepsley explains that this is due to vampires and wolves being very related. But the little men decide to take the wolves as hostiles, and attempt to kill the wolves.

More dialogue of Shan traveling through the mountains, until they arrive to another resting point but find vampire blood, on one of the coffins there meant to let the vampires sleep. Shan and his master try to figure out what was behind it. Until another vampire appears, who turns out to be Mr. Crepsley’s friend from a while ago. He stays with them throught the journey.
