I'm trying to slog through the rest of this book, I really am. While I like the plot well enough and have a love for Chinese period dramas, this book is written so atrociously that it's barely tolerable. I remember seeing this as a recommendation for me, but now I wish I'd forgotten all about it. While there are interesting turns of phrase, this book would be better suited for YA fiction, if that.
