Right on the money. Very nostalgic. I used to watch subtitled Hong Kong police movies and series on betamax and VHS. They were very popular in the region precisely because the police figures were fighting for the victims of the mob, murderers, kidnappers...sometimes in the grey zone. That's why the most popular canto actors became top in their field. The first story reminded me of that and the last detective novel.
