Two groups of people, who came by crossing the Pacific and the Atlantic, and arriving at Angel Island and Ellis Island, but ended up one group being called "sojourners", the one "settlers". Since then, a Eurocentric view of American history becomes irreversible.

My friends and classmates often tell me, "ying, you're doing just fine". And sometimes I wonder, is being a model minority hurting the asian americans? and whether at one day the existential crisis that we constantly ignore will loom so large that circa 1882 would feel like yesterday?
