cleolind banished the nameless one at then orange tree, but didn’t kill him. her and her friend then used the two jewels that came down from the long haired comet to confine him for 1000 years. now the priory have one at the grave of cleolind after eadaz opened the tomb with the key from the yscalin box. the pirates and the priory are now after the second jewel, priory for protection and pirates for immortality.

This is what happens when you do something wrong. One day, you will be found out. I find it really interesting that Tané was first referred to as ‘she’, especially as it’s the start of a new part. I think this shows her identity being taken, as all her life she was working for Miduchi and now she’s been stripped of everything she knows, and goes by Scholar Tané. The elder seems nice!!

Wow, that second part was full of action. The chararacters have been majorly developed, and a lot has happened. Attempts have been made on Sabran’s life, and Ead was always there to protect her. Until she couldn’t and her womb was made barren. I knew they’d live each other, but now Combes has exiled Ead and she’s on to way to Chassar. Tané has lost a great opportunity, Loth is trapped and Niclays is stuck.

Awgh, that fucking Night Hawk. He has no business interfering with Sabran’s personal affairs. It’s not like it would threaten her rule, surely? Hmm, I suppose it could mean Sabran won’t marry again, but there’s no use surely? Unless it was all just for the image. I love Meg, Valour is such a good horse, so honest and loyal. Be safe Ead, I know you can fight the wyrms but still, danger awaits…

I didn’t particularly like that chapters but I’m not in the flow of it. I don’t like the pirate scenes atm, but hoping that’ll change. God knows who that High Western was! But I wondered if it was the Nameless One, until it was calling out ‘Master. Master. Master.’ The translater seems nice!

SABRAN!!! Nooo, be safe 😭 I think Trudye is dead, being in the Dearn Tower (imprisoned) and Lintley, but surely not Sabran. Come on Ead, surely you have some healing magic. I’m not sure of the idea that she is a highly trained fighter, feels kinda cliche, but I still live her, this story and the world it’s in!

Niclays, oh Niclays. Now you’ve been captured and are basically hostage for the Golden Empress. She seems cool, but I still get her for what she’s doing to Nayimathun. That dragon is so wise and caring, she doesn’t deserve this. Surely nothing can happen to her??

wow, the priory! it’s defo not how i imagine it to be (a tower with airy windows etc. it’s actually rather controlling, keeping Loth there but what other choice?

religion in this book is so exquisite and detailed, and everyone has a different understanding of it. in my belief, i think the dragons are the most reliable as they have no bias as they are creatures of fire, and no need to romanticise anything.
