Description states this can stand alone. They lied. l'm only on page 40 and there have already been NUMEROUS references to events in the previous book. 🤨 l'm annoyed.

Despite my irritation with this one, I can't seem to stop reading it. Once you suspend your disbelief and deliberately forget that these are kids in high school, you can enjoy it.

Everyone knows whats going on and you're left piecing together the clues. 😕 this book is a like a trainwreck. lt's so ridiculously OTT but you can't look away. 🤦♀️ l've been tempted to DNF a couple times. We shall see. Honestly, l'm only here for the couple. Their chemistry is off the charts and they aren't even together yet. 😭
Book 2 in a series never means standalone to me and I never understand why authors say they are. Don't make it a series with all the crossover if you want to write a standalone. I know they do it so they won't alienate a reader who starts somewhere other than the beginning, but again, the stories have a beginning, book 1, so, to me, not standalone. Hopefully you can just go read book 1 so you won't feel left out.
There's some truth to that, but there are some series where I've read them out of order without any confusion or loss in the storyline. Having read previous books only enhanced the characters. This isn't one of them. I'm muddling along b/c it's oddly addicting, but I'm still annoyed that it's marketed that way.
