quinn's choices... why is it kate ends up in a carriage accident and we still make it about anthony? he's talking about his fear and kate brings up her mother died at the age she's turning, and yet we still don't talk about her mother or her trauma that IS NOT GONE.

kate: she wasn't soft and hesitant
also kate: is soft and hesitant to an annoying degree

i love the banter between ABC

so kate "conquers" her fear of storms by understanding the root of them (i still think she would be traumatised? she unpacked *a lot*) and anthony manages to make it all about him, doesn't remain present for kate working through her emotions, and had the biggest overreaction to her saying "always make forever" and was a total loser about it and hurts kate.

and kate isn't the fiery person i keep being told she is.

the chapter revealing kate's fear of thunderstorms and her own trauma was actually really good. this is the only thing i wish the show had incorporated—her fear of storms being associated with her mother's death.

anthony is horny for kate and this is the characterisation i approve of

anthony's "listen to me and listen well" speech was great until he said he would tie her to the bed and have his way with her a hundred times to prove she was attractive. 😕

"just love me" saved what was a super brow raising chapter. book purists wanted "you're denying me my rights" in the show????

i wish that this series actually encouraged conversations about sex and didn't portray them as something to be embarrassed about. again, we should throw historical accuracy out the window sometimes.

yikes at the causal misogyny. idc that this is a regency romance — why can't we ever erase misogyny from our historical stories?
