One event in the book Twilight that I believe will be a turning point for Bella is when, Bella receives two invites to the dance from Mike and another boy she is friends with, and she declines them both. I think this is a realization that Bella has about her wanting to be with Edward. She does not want to accept the fact that she likes him.

If I were to pick what my relationship with Bella Swan would look like, I would choose to be her friend. I would rather be her friend over being her sidekick because I feel like she would be an interesting and fun person to be around, however, I think being her sidekick would involve many supernatural activities because of Edward and I don't think I would enjoy involving myself with that.
