this book is intriguing me already. i already have a magnitude of admiration and interest for greek mythology and their traditional interpretations of/ belief systems surrounding the nature of god (gods), so i feel the premise of the setting is initially appealing to me.
after witnessing achilles’ and patroclus’ first interactions, i can tell their relationship is just going to be filled with powerful emotion.

i am obsessed. this book has everything to a pin. characterisation ✅ story arc ✅ character development ✅ and of course utterly beautiful writing.

characterisation in this novel is done extraordinarily. the introduction of chiron and his pivotal and influential role on achilles and patroclus plus their relationship will be so significant in the later story, with his paternal attitudes, self-disciplinary and wise nature, it should definitely rub off on the boys come later life. he also provides a strong contrast in terms of character with thesis; so interesting

this story is outstanding already. i love everything about their relationship, from its seed and watching it bloom too (clearly only as a friendship at this point). achilles being a demigod makes for such an interesting premise and it will play out so well in the long term realities of his love with patroclus. at the moment though it’s really heartwarming seeing how differently he acts, his authenticity with him.
