Gotta love reading 20 pages in pre-op, going under anaesthesia, and waking up without any memory of a single word you read. Would be reporting in at 50 pages, if not for that.
Book-Jack continues to be so much more sympathetic. You can feel that he’ll be a victim of the hotel, not an ally to it.

Barely a few pages into this book, and I already like this Jack more than the Kubrick version, or at least what I know of that Jack (I’m watching the full movie once I’m done reading). I kinda get why Stephen King would be frustrated- book Jack is an asshole, but not as frightening or terrible as movie Jack seems to be from the beginning.
