The part about the flame and the void reminded me of Dune. The influence of Tolkein is heavy in the air as well. Neither are ment as complaints but as compliments.

The Dragonmount history portion was a bit difficult to get through and had me slightly alarmed of what I was getting myself into, but once I started the first chapter I found myself very engaged.
