Latter-day King works best when he has a good story to tell that doesn't need to be drowned out by a lot of philosophical babble and writerly tics that border on gibberish. This is King in full-on B-movie mode. Brady, the titular serial killer, is a sick riot, and King has a ball writing his sections. Even more ridiculous than Doctor Sleep, but this book has a sense of fun that Sleep fatally lacked.
