At last! George Washington arrives firmly on the scene and is now in command of the Continental Army.
We've had a glimpse or two of Thomas Jefferson, but the main story seems to be driven from the points of view of John Adams and Ben Franklin.
We are treated to a healthy dose of the official British point of view in the colonies from General Gage himself. Actually married to an American woman from New Jersey, Gage had the misfortune of being stuck in command of the Crackdown Boston and the official response of the king to the Tea Party. Not to mention the Battle of Bunker Hill!
Still about 9 months out from the Declaration of Independence.
What a great book and how appropriate to read it in the month we (the USA) celebrate our independence!
