Nice light read. But having just read Men Who Reaped it is interesting this is a book set in the same rural Mississippi but told from the point of a white narrator who is living with a black woman. Very interesting.

This was a good light read. Starla reminded me a lot if myself as a 9 yr old and Crandall developed her very well. The issues of the times were portrayed accurately albeit on a superficial level which fit the overall tone of this book. I gave it 4 stars as it was well written and just what I was looking for.
