Jayson
Jayson is starting

Notes:
(1) This book shouldn't exist. Zero Hour is a "crisis," sure, but so are Infinite Crisis and Final Crisis, among others, and those aren't counted as eras here.
- This just happens to take place in the mid-'90s, and I guess they wanted that aesthetic represented.
(2) I wish I'd read "Kingdom Come." That's the theme here, and I hate being in the dark about Easter eggs!

Notes:
(1) I'm sure Tom Mandrake was a superstar artist in the '80s, but I don't think his style holds up.
- Not only does it look dated, but awfully amateur.
- Had I not known he was an industry legend of sorts, I would have written his art off as that of an underground zine.
(2) This volume may be the most boring of them all. Both art and story have been entirely generic.

Notes:
(1) So far, I've not been impressed by any of the art or the writing.
- DC seemingly assumed that merely having different iterations of characters on the same page was enough to justify these comic's existence.
(2) I'm not getting the sense of anything special from these "Kingdom Come" characters.
- Quite the opposite, in fact. They all seem generic and watered-down.

Notes:
(1) Last book everything took place in Gotham. Here, everything takes place in Metropolis. That's fine except that only one of these stories features a Metropolis hero, and even then not exactly.
- What's the point of this "defend your city" gimmick when it's not their city these heroes are defending?
(2) I hate generic baddies. Not a good hate, a shake-my-head hate.
