I'm coming across things that didn't happen in the show. The book is so much better. The plots do not line up the same between the show and the books. However, the show is closer to the books than most things on television that come from books. I still love the show regardless- I'm not disappointed in it.

There's lots of backstory in the first part of the book. Some might argue it's boring, but I say it's necessary information for plot development.
