Sparse, violent, and nearly surreal in its presentation, Blood Meridian is one of the most unique (if not disturbing) books I've read in a long time. The prose may be dry for some, but that arid structure perfectly accents the bleak and rugged tone of the novel. I'm looking forward to finishing it, but also readying myself mentally and emotionally for what this gritty tale has left.
