Railways seem such a weird topic for a science fiction book.

Sean O'Hara You didn't even get to the hundred page long speech. That's like being held by the Spanish Inquisition without getting the thumb screws.

Bohan Ye Oh, don't remind me of that speech! Listen to it in audiobook form, i decided to skip the speech after about 10 minutes, so I fast forward 45 minutes and guess what? The speech kept going.

Anyways not going blame you for not finishing it. (I did actually enjoy Fountainhead a bit, but that more to do with my interest in architecture) But I would have LOVED to hear to do a review on Atlas Shrugged.

Luke Burrage I might do a review of the books I started but didn't finish in the past year.

Tamahome I'd like to hear that. Hey, I only have 90 more minutes on The Doomsday Book!

Luke Burrage I only got about 90 minutes into the Doomsday Book! Actually, way more than that. Also I'm going to finish Eiffelheim when I get home, and will read the rest of Frankenstein when I buy a new iPhone or other suitable e-reader.

Maybe I'll just get the rest of the story of Atlas Shrugged from wikipedia, and do a non-rated review, like I did for Last and First Men that I also didn't complete.

Joe Sweeney I might've liked to hear a Fountainhead review too just to hear you talk about a certain scene. It's the part where the main character (the greatest man who ever lived) rapes the main female character. But she likes being raped by him because he's such a great architect and all-around cool guy. Later they get married. o.O

What kind of woman writes something like that?

Luke Burrage I'm never convinced that a philosophy developed for Superman is applicable to the wider population.

Joel i think the speech is actually a full three hours of the audiobook.

also though doomsday book rather dull. it has good sections but it was a challenge to get through.

Err...you just reminded of the part of Fountainhead that i tried for 4 years to forget. I might have change my rating due to that realization. Strangely I liked Fountainhead a lot more than Atlas Shrugged.

Joel fountainhead is a lot less pompous. also half as long.

This sums up how I felt reading Rand's Anthem, and that was only a novella!
