Natasha Pulley virtuosically combines historical fiction with a very light touch of the magical. Her novels are not only meticulously researched, but she also manages to convert that research into a vibrant depiction of the world her stories are set in.

Even more astoundingly, she gives each of her narrators their own, very distinct voice, which reflects their personality in all its colours and facets.
