I'm finally warming up to the female lead. The same thing happened with book 1, too: I disliked that female lead almost all the way up to the end, before it turned around right at the end.

Why add red food colouring to your omelet?!! And then people wonder why everyone is dying of cancer these days!!! Food colouring isn't totally harmless, you know. Why add unnecessary crap to your food?!!!!!!

I'm not sure how appropriate this novel is for YA readers. Having a mother-figure whore herself for money is very serious stuff!! 😨

The female lead doesn't work, and she sure doesn't study. But her brother is killing himself to support her. And her mother is selling herself!! So maybe little-miss-judgemental could get a job and help everyone out?!

For being YA, this series stands out for never really talking about college or higher education of any kind. I wonder why the author chose to have most of her characters go from high school to a job right away.

Gawd, she's an annoying protagonist!!

The female lead from book 1 was a total bitch. I guess this one is the same. Bummer. 😑😑
