I get what the guys is saying: if you want to do good, you need to understand what you're doing otherwise you might just be doing good for yourself because doing things to feel good isn't the same thing as doing actual good.
But I find his point poorly argumented. Empathy isn't the source of every evil in the world. It's not something you can isolate and banish from human nature. It's an emotion you need to harness

For the record, I believe this guy's thesis is obscenely wrong but I want to read it to challenge myself. Nothing wrong in tweaking the way you live. Everything wrong in refusing to do that.
