Kafka always literally puts me to sleep. I had an accidental nap from 7-8pm trying to read this. It was a similar struggle with Metamorphosis and The Trial. There are no paragraphs, and it just never gets to the point. It equivocates endlessly, like a standup comedian who never has the confidence to finish one of their jokes. Maybe that's the point, the comedy or absurdity he wants to show. I do not welcome it.
