Difficult it is, to keep track of all these Tibetan names and social levels. Reading this book does give me a better understanding of both China and Tibet. Tibet’s ‘misfortune’ seems to be the chasm in Tibet itself and the lack of modernisation. I was in Labrang once, to visit the cloisters, which were very impressive (with a buss from Lhanzou). I visited Tibet just before the onset of the Corona-pandemic.
