The syringes in insurgent represents that bad things are to come. every time that tris is injected with a serum something bad follows.

In my book Insurgent The gun is a symbol. Tris cant stand to be by her gun. Tris mentions that having her gun at a distance would be a relief. She also shoves the gun under her mattress and "shutters" when she feels it. The truth is that tris doesn't want distance from the gun and she is not shuttering because of the gun. She is uncomfortable with the gun because the gun symbolizes her killing Will.
