When people ask to help Phinny he always's gets mad because he wants to be independent. He is used to doing everything himself and having no one help him. I think he is getting frustrated but he still wants to seem tough.

I am really surprised that Leper was the first to go to war. No one is talking about Leper leaving because he was an outsider. Leper enlisted in the ski troops because he likes skiing. I am surprised Brinker has not left yet.

Leper is the odd man out in this book because he does not want to work. Gene and everyone does work to prove that they are war ready. I don't think Leper wants to be in the war.

I really liked that they got away with going to the beach. That shows the time diference between old school and present day schools. If I was off campus for one hour at cardigan I would get screwed

I really liked the first couple chapters because there was conflict. I think Eugene is having a tough time figuring out who are is real friends. Its very hard to figure out who are the good guys and who are the bad guys.

So far the characters that have been introduced are Eugene and Finny. Eugene is naturally good at athletics. He also can talk people in and out of things so as a result he is very powerful. Eugene on the other hand is a nerd that worries about fitting in at the Devon school. I think that there will be conflict between these two characters because of there diferences.
