As Gene graduates and leaves school, the story comes back to 1957. He states that he fought a war at Devon, and that he killed his enemy. And he finally gets that the perceived enemy might not have been an enemy at all. Too late, because his greed and jealousy already killed Finny 15 years ago. I'm just going to stay in the neutral zone for this book.

Finny breaks his bad leg again as he falls down the stairs. The boys get immediate help and Finny is safe back in the health center. However, during a surgery, a bone marrow stops Finny's heart and kills him. Gene is dumbfounded and couldn't express anything, not even tears. I still question why the author made Finny die and why doesn't Gene express anything. I'm very curious about what will happen next.

In this chapter, they have a sort of student trial discussing the cause of Finny's brutal accident. And when Leper returns, he testifies that he saw somebody jouncing the limb. When Finny hears Leper's story, he runs out of the room and then rolls down the marble staircase by accident. I think Knowles is making more bad situations to happen to gain the readers' interest. I can't wait to find out what will happen next

In this chapter Gene visits Leper's house to see Leper. Then they talk about all the stuff until Leper insults and accuses Gene and Gene flips. When they go out for a walk, Leper talks about all the horrible stuff he saw in the training camp. I still question why Gene ran away from him even though Leper was just telling him how horrible the war is. I'm very curious and look forward to read what happens.

There were several important factors in this chapter. First, Leper enlists for the war. Also, Gene now gives up his other social life and concentrates his social life majorly on training with Finny. They also decide to have a winter carnival. I think this chapter was very fun to read.

In this chapter, Gene changes his mind to not enlist to the Army. This chapter was just about Gene and Finny hanging out and doing random stuff. Finny makes a new nickname for Brinker, they train for the Olympics, and Finny also yips the headmaster. This was a very interesting chapter to read and I look forward reading more.

In these two chapters, school starts again. Gene meets Brinker, who lives across the hall, and Quakenbush, who he is working for as a assistant senior crew manager. As Quakenbush insults him, they even get into a fight. Gene also got accused of intentionally pushing Finny of the tree, but he goes away with it. Also, Finny comes back, so I'm waiting for a very interesting chapter.

In this chapter, Gene hears that Finny shattered his leg and that he can't play sports anymore. He tries to talk about it the first time he meets him again, but he doesn't. Then the Summer session ends, and when he returns, he finally confesses. I have a neutral feeling about Gene. I both mad at him and proud of him. I'm mad because it took him such a long time to confess, but I'm still okay with him because he still

I think Gene's action is this chapter was a result of his selfishness and jealousy. When Finny still finds Gene as a good friend, Gene feels that rivalry and strong jealousy. When he figures out that Finny is a moral superior and have no reason to compete, when they are on the tree to jump, Gene shakes the limb and makes Finny fall to the bank with a great thud. I'm very curious about what will happen next.
