In the last three chapters I feel like I've learned as much new information about Amir and his life and the lives of the people around him, as I had in entire book leading up to them. I was very surprised to find out Amir had been Hassan's brother all along, and yet I still feel like there are going to be even more surprises, involving how Amir decides the handle Hassan's orphaned child.

For some reason, I expected the ending of Kite Runner to be a little more exiting, I expected some dramatic event or story altering secret to be revealed at the end, kind of like in movies that are setting you up at the end for sequels. But I was surprised, and pleasantly surprised, at how subtle yet touching the ending turned out to be, with Amir reliving his childhood kite running experiences with Sohrab.
