In northern Scotland, we are introduced to the main character and his friends who seem to be quite competitive. It also appears to me from certain aspects of their preparation, navigation, and usage of boats, they seem to be quite skilled in their ocean travels. I could also be assumed that this book in set in the 1700 due to some more absurd aspect of daily life.
