That sudden villain breakdown reminds me so much of Criminal Minds. It works better on television than in writing, but I got a good laugh regardless. (Though I don't think that's the intended reaction.)

I feel both lowkey bored (enough that I keep being distracted from reading) and yet interested enough in the murder case that I don't want to give up. So basically, this is the written version of the crime dramas I watch in the background when gaming.

I kind of feel like that's a foregone conclusion, but idk. I'm feeling a bit underwhelmed by the whole thing so far. Something about the writing style isn't really clicking for me.

Something about the writing style isn't really clicking for me."Yeah, I'll be shocked if it doesn't come to pass. It's sort of written in stone once the MC goes "wow he's attractive" ain't it? But I know what you mean about the writing. It feels almost... detached? I'm not sure if that's the right word, but I don't feel drawn in; I feel a bit more like I'm half-heartedly watching a police procedural on television.
Yes, that's a very good description of what it reads like. I have this vague idea (did I read it in a review? ) that maybe the relationship arc will go across multiple volumes, so I'm not sure if they'll get together in this one.
