I started disliking the narrator a bit at page 43 where she says, "I strongly believe that neither your social background nor people around you have a final say in what you become" but only pages before mentioned that her parents' arguing and divorce messed her up for life.

Dialogue is a little awkward sometimes - direct translation from Polish can be strange in English.

I mostly like the writing. I believe the author is not native, so it's very good... But some of the mistakes are hard to overlook (I'm VERY picky). The main character is too melodramatic for me, but I'm enjoying the story overall. The story started off with such a bang, which I'm still seeing, but not as much. Gdansk is one of my favorite cities, so I enjoy reading a book set there also. The rating now is a 3.75.

The start was rather shocking, but it was intriguing. So far the book is very enjoyable - a bit depressing, but the writing is very good (although awkwardly phrased in some places). So far I'd rate it a 5.
