Race is not a biological category. Research shows that there is a far greater genetic variation within than between so-called racial groups. Race is thus a social construction.

Groups tend to compare themselves to other groups (a process exacerbated in many countries by colonialism) and often see themselves as entitled to a higher status than other groups. Where differences in status persist, the potential ingredient for ethnic conflict are present.

The ideologies of citizens (what they believe) enable the creation of political parties with identical beliefs. Thus, the only way for a political force to get elected is to mimic and adopt the conviction and the needs of the citizenry.
