Harry is mistreated and not respected by his aunt's family. They treat him like a servant, with rudeness and disrespect. ""You mustn't blame yourself for the way the boy's turned out, Vernon," she said over lunch on the third day. "If there's something rotten on the inside, there's nothing anyone can do about it.""(25). This shows that Marge is disrespectful of Harry because she critizizes him as if he isn't there.

Harry is brave and puts a lot of trust into himself and Hogwarts' professors, because when he was told that Sirius Black was trying to get to him, he did not panic because he believes that he is in no danger while his friends and the professors are there to protect him.

Professor Lupin is much different than people expect. An example is when Madam Pomfrey says "So we've finally got a Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher who knows his remedies?"(90). This shows that usually wizards who take the job of D.A.D.A teacher aren't very qualified and were only employed because of the lack of applicants.

The Minister of Magic, Cornelius Fudge, is suspicious, because he seems to be lying to Harry, or hiding information from him when they are talking at the Leaky Cauldron. "Unless Harry's eyes were deceiving him, Fudge was suddenly looking awkward. "Circumstances change, Harry...We have to take in to account..in the present climate...Surely you don't want to be expelled?"(45). This shows that Fudge is acting suspicious
