I usually don't like GameLit or LitRPG, but my familiarity with this author meant that I grabbed this book immediately. His characters and worlds are enough to overcome my dislike of the LitRPG genre.

Since this is a follow on from the author's Alpha World series, I was intrigued enough to get the first book. The first book was good enough that I bought the second. These books have a slightly different tone than Alpha World. I found Alpha World to be a bit darker than this series.
