It's interesting how the book hops between time periods through flashbacks, sometimes showing the lively, selfless young man, and at other times switching back to him as an old, grouchy man in his 90's at the nursing home many years later. There is a lot of clever humor in it, especially from the old man's point of view. Despite what they think, I believe Rosie is intelligent, but they are just going about it wrong.
