Chicago March 1893. Tons of snow fell on rooftops in Jackson Park, two months before the fair. "Men working at the Manufactures and Liberal Arts Building building heard the shriek of failed steel and ran for cover. In a great blur of snow and silvery glass the building's roof, the marvel of the late 19th century hubris, enclosing the greatest volume of an unobstructed space in history, collapse to the floor. lol

An architect RTE envisioned this as a possible addition to the worlds fair: "4000ft tower with a 2,000ft cable of 'best rubber.' Attached at the bottom end of this cable would be a car seating 200 people. The car and it's passengers would be shoved off a platform and fall without restraint to the end of the cable, where the car would snap back upward and continue bouncing until it came to a stop." WILD if built lol
