In this book, Harry's cousin, Dudley, is pretty much trying to torment him in every way possible. They really don't like each other and Dudley is trying to make Harry feel bad about himself. The text says, "Haven't you got any friends at that freak place?" (9). This shows how Dudley feels about Harry, along with how mean Dudley really is.

A lot of people think that they are all high and mighty like everybody is beneath them. An example of this idea is Aunt Alexandra. In the first sentence of Chapter 13 she says, "Put my bag in the front bedroom, Calpurnia." (169). This shows that just because Calpurnia is the maid Aunt Alexandra treats her like she is less of a person showing how mean she is.

Just because a person has money doesn't mean that it is okay for you to be unkind to every key else. In this book, Malfoy shows an example of what a good person shouldn't do. He says, "Everyone's just admiring the brooms my father's bought our team." (112). This shows how conceded and rude Malfoy really is.

Mrs. Weasley is speaking to her husband, Arthur, about the law he made about wizards not being able to play around with muggle (humans) toys, and it reveals something about how clever Mr. Weasley is. "Arthur Weasley, you made sure there was a loophole when you wrote that law!" (39). This illustrates that Mr. Weasley is a clever man who knows how to get what he wants.
