Yeah, this was definitely one that took me a while to like. First time around I was like “meh” but then after the rest of the series, I was glad I read it (I read it again last year and I liked it more the second time). But it’s worth it foundational for several other storylines. You can do it!!!!

Not to mention portraying the complex historical context! Just for that, the book deserves five stars. The plot itself isn't always engaging though and I don't think Luciano will ever be one of my book boyfriends lol, but I do love the Maxwells and the sneak peaks I got of Venetia and Gabriel are very intriguing, so it's definitely worth paying attention. I'm on the home stretch anyway.
