He talks about not having to worry with this girl he’s with because he feels safe around her. He also ends up talking about how love supposedly leaves when poverty comes into play.

He talks about barley going to school and barley doing his work but somehow still keeping the delusion that everything’s good so his family doesn’t know. His absences get him caught because the school sent his father a letter about it but his older brother represented his father and got him in trouble.

He talks about not seeing prostitutes as human beings but more as imbeciles or lunatics but feels safe in their arms. He mentions joining a Communist Meeting called Reading Society

He talks about barley showing anyone anything besides 1 person because he didn’t want to be judged or feel judged. He also talks about how his friend doesn’t listen to what people think about him.

He talks about how he thinks girls are more difficult to understand than men. He talks about living in a household with more girls then guys and how he knows what to do when something happens to one of them.

Osamu talks about making everyone laugh but putting on a smile. He takes takeichi to his house because it was raining and he lived right around the school.

Osamu talks about the kinds of people he would see in highschool and how they would act towards him and how he’d have to put on some kind of character so people dont see him as a weird person. He also talks about getting stabbed in the back.

He talks about his dad getting mad at him for wanting a book rather than a mask. He also talks about barley going to school but still passing his test and exams and he gets called brains for that.

He talks about being happy and how it’s different for many people. He goes on about how his is weird and that he actually doesn’t know what it is.

He talks about how he’s from a small town and that he was always amused about train bridges until he found out what the use for them is. He also talks about how bad he hates dinner with his family and how they never expected different or extravagant meals.
