Stick a fork in me. I'm done. Just couldn't finish. This could have been an important book on an episode of little known Alabama History. Unfortunately, it isn't. There is little of merit to be gained from reading the speculative ramblings of Jerry Elijah Brown.

On to Part Two, "Exploring the Mitcham Mind Set." Gosh. I thought we had done that. Apparently this book has become a rare commodity. One copy is available on Amazon.com. Now that's an optimistic seller. Don't buy it. There are still a few signed copies available at The Alabama Booksmith, Homewood, Al, for $18.94. Not to be cynical, don't spend your money unless you believe in supporting your Indy seller.

Author Jerry Elijah Brown has an axe to grind. He has a burr under his saddle in how the residents of Mitcham Beat were viewed during and after the infamous Clarke County War. The sub-title is "Essaying Mortal Wounds." And that's what it is, a series of "essays" by the author in which he surmises his opinions based on a good degree of surmise and speculation. This is getting old, old, old.
