It’s a book that is as much about the history of psychology as it is about the human condition.
The guy who wrote it is not only a very, very good writer (in the technical sense) but also an profoundly empathetic (in fact, too much so for my tastes, on occasion) human being, and has had a fascinating life.
People recommended it to me for 9 years before I read it, myself. It’s very famous, of course.

.... there's a sort of addictive quality to the way it 'shows you the path out', as it were, while sort of broadly being about how people can't just be 'shown the path out,' but must experience (or be forced to experience) the path out for themselves. You can only really see the path once you're outside, because before that, your brain -physically- can't get it. There's also LOTS of interesting implications for what's going on with people who watch Fox (though that's not explicitly addressed). Yes, I think you would like some of the Manufacturing Consent applications of the ideas. xo!
