I am so confused. Only 6% into the book and I don't even know if both characters are no longer Amish or she's Amish. Authors, even though it's a short story you have to clarify who the characters are in such a way that your reader is confident about what they're reading. I've already gone back to the beginning of this story 4 times trying to figure out who the characters are. No reader should have to do that.
