Listening to this while driving almost put me into a road rage. Incredibly frustrating to hear about how awful people were to people who were trying to do the right thing and how distorted their thoughts were towards their prejudice. Honestly the angriest I have ever been reading a book.

Really good book, it almost acts like a time capsule for back then but I've seen first hand how some of these attitudes have not evolved very much. Really fascinating story too, but what stuck out to me was how the black community had to cope with their own forms of racism to feel superior. I understood colorism was a thing, but to actually read about why it's a thing is another.

Alright I think I know how to do audiobooks now. Interesting listen too.
