Tis 1 part of the book stuck with me and irritated me. The daughter is in the hospital and her brother hit his head. He cracked his head open and according to his father, "one kid in the hospital is enough. His skull is hard enough so the hospital won't help". This made me furious, who wouldn't take their kid to the hospital. Their daughter also burnt herself making hotdogs but why do her parents continue to let her?

Rex and Rose Mary love their children, and even though their lives are eccentric, they really don’t fail them completely. They live in fantasy world where Mom can survive in the desert and Dad is a great hero. Unfortunately, they carry their children along with them in this strange life. I wonder when the children will realize how eccentric their parents are? Will there lives ever be in danger as a result?

Jeanette is worried she is over dressed but then looks out the window to find her family rooting through a dumpster. She sees her mom and panics, she hasn't seems her in months. Why would she not see her mom for months and then see her looking in the dumpster. Her mom discusses work and Jeanette seems annoyed. Why was her mom looking through a dumpster and why was she gone for so long?
