How are the books? Just started the series on Netflix

I read the books a while ago, before the series started, and I absolutely loved them! Light reads but very engaging. I am not particularly fond of the series however, as it is quite different from the books. The series is loosely based on the books. I think I would have liked the series had I not read the books - at least that's just my opinion 🙂
